Marken Blouse, BirdsWhen Dutch traders returned from exotic lands the luxuries they brought with them were ones we can’t imagine life without today—spices, tea, and tulip bulbs to name a few. On the island of Marken, chintz fabric became the most prized and necessary component of the daily wardrobe, a cultural tradition continuing today. Squares were pinned prominently onto the fronts of their dresses and then stored in special boxes to be passed down to future generations. Our version borrows the mixture of striped sleeves with floral bodice and adds embroidered symbolic motifs on the cuffs. Inspired by this glorious tradition, we know our signature blouse has staying power and are excited to pass it on to you. |
