Madagascar is one of the poorest countries in the world and after visiting we felt a need to do more than wait for conditions to improve. One of the best ways to help is to support ethical business development. Although we could work with manufacturers closer to home, we want to support the beautiful work of the people in Madagascar. One of the things that makes our hearts soar is our manufacturer: Bodovoahangy is an amazing upbeat woman with a vision that is awe-inspiring. For example, she has built a school next to her factory for the children of her employees. Possibly even more heartwarming is the admiration and respect she shows her workers. When we were in the middle of meeting with her for the first time, a woman came into the office to show her work but upon finding us there turned to leave. Bodovoahangy coaxed her back in and then proceeded to ecstatically praise the magnificent embroidery she was doing on a wedding gown. Pronk Life is a blog devoted to sharing what we believe, not what we sell. Pronk Life discusses inspiring stories, cool ideas, and anything else that reminds us that there are people "displaying their best" in the living of their life. Our first entry talks about the culture which inspired our philosophy about mindful clothing. We want to make this a community effort so if you feel like it, please share your own stories with us. They need not be huge to make it onto our blog. Interact with us. We would love to hear any feedback about Pronk. Please feel free to leave your comments in the form below or just an email address so we can keep you updated when new lines arrive. |
